Match report A game that went back and forth, but thankfully the pendulum swung in favour of the 1's, who successfully edged a tight game, winning by 9 runs.

Contributions from Dan Smith (41), Rod Brazier (25) and Roger Marshall (21) had helped the hosts to 150, but with regular losses of wickets, it looked a little light - and at 154-9 with 10 overs to play the outlook did not look that bright. The hosts were therefore indebted to a fantastic unbeaten last wicket stand of 63 between John Marshall & Keith Mitchell, John hitting an unbeaten 52 from 39 balls that propelled the score to 217-9 at the innings close.

Broomfield were in all sorts of trouble at 12-4, but an excellent 157 from visitors no 5 Scott Fisher took the game to the brink. Thankfully he holed out to Jack Shipton, who took the crucial catch on the boundary. The final wicket of the innings fell just two balls later, the visitors all out for 208.

Another close game to test the nerves of the sun soaked Woodham faithful, but another narrow victory, and one that keeps us close on the heels of leaders Rayleigh Fairview - the gap just 5 points.
