Match report WMMC loose to Rayleigh.

The Woodham Seniors were asked to bat first with a changed side from the first game.

Opener’s Reddin and Beames played some pretty poor cricket to get us to a bad start. Reddin jogging in instead of sprinting was run out and Beames caught and bowled trying for a glory six. Manoj soon followed trying to take a run hitting the ball straight to Frosty the opposition’s captain. Not a good idea.

Top three down and in steps veteran’s new boys Glasson and Goode to play a couple of excellent innings with Dave retiring on 25 and with Dr. John doing his bit at the end. What looked like a disaster at first ended up being 92 in the ten overs!

The ball was swinging big unlike the first game where there was little movement. Manoj the pick of the crop last time struggled to control the swing. Pick of the bowlers was the Spin Doctor Woodrow who took a first wicket in the first over. Nick also bowled a tidy three overs. Reddin was tidy behind the stumps keeping the swinging wide ball off the back wall and had a good appeal for a stumping. May be one for the third umpire but probably just in.

Once again we were short on runs as Rayleigh reached our score with two balls left. Some good performances but overall I feel we let ourselves down with some pretty basic mistakes.

WMCC best performance: Nick Goode 17 runs and 3 Overs at 8.3
