Bagborough CC v Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club TOUR XI on Sun 06 Sep 2015 at 12:00pm

Match report
The Final Sunday arrived pretty much the same as the whole weekend, Glorious September Sunshine and a trip to defend our victory last year. The, by now very weary touring party, (mostly self inflicted) dragged themselves onto the bus and headed out.
Upon arrival at Bagborough we glimpsed a very young side and captain Verlander in the spirit of touring cricket suggested we bat first to put on a good score and make a game of it. And that was the end of that really...
Josh Brady in his usual style top scored with 31 and takes the man of the match award, more for being top tour run scorer rather than this innings. Although he tried with two huge sixes he failed to hit the bus this year! George, Taunton hero Dave Glasson, and Toby got to double figures but the rest, including our ones opener, Brazier batting at the very unusual number 11 spot, failed to reach double figures. All out 123.
A fourth Fantastic Tea was consumes and Woodham took to the field ready to produce an upset. Sadly with the new specialist opening bowling pair of Andy Brown and Rod Brazier tweaking from both ends, (more memories of Zinc and Fever)any chance of an upset was quickly removed after Bagborough's ones opening bat, cleverly disguised as a 20 year old smashed 54 off 19 balls including 8 sixes, one 4 and 2 singles. He was probably quite disappointed with the singles.
Thankfully he retired opening up the tail, or so we thought when Toby got the new batsman out first ball!
Sadly with only 30 odd runs needed Bagborough knocked them off easily, The only highlight being a sharp catch by the super nimble Nick Goode diving forward and holding on whilst the ground trembled. Nick also took a wicket himself.
Possibly a disappointing end to the tour, but gladly that wasn't the case as all . It seemed everyone had a fantastic time and that's really the only reason we tour and play cricket in this fashion. Secretly I quite like it when we get bowled out as it means everyone has had a bat!
On a Personal note, I would like to thank everyone who toured this year, I thoroughly enjoyed it yet again and I have already made inquiries for the 2016 tour! First come first served. I also want to thank our regular fan base.. Debbie and Gary Verlander. The heart of our club and a pleasure to have on the boundary rope supporting us at every game ( Even though they missed Dave's five for whilst doing a bit of sight-seeing in Taunton!!).Also a special mention to Saffron who put up with 4 days of cricket whilst waiting to go clubbing again! We hope to see you back on the bus next year.
So from me signing off from WMCC TOUR V (There was a Norfolk tour in 2007) and inviting you all to get your names down and deposits in for WMCC TOUR VI (location TBA)!!
