Match report Day 4 and on to the final game of the tour, a repeat monday game from tour 2013.
Arreton, once again put out a team on a Monday to play us, completing a wonderful 4 day tour. The weather gods stayed away once again and we only lost 15 min to the rain and still completed a 40 over match.
Woodham won the toss and decided to bowl. Tour Skipper Mark Beames, whilst having the day off managed to snag a spot in the Arreton line up and hit a handy 24 at number 3 before being caught by Nelly! Arreton had 2 batsmen score close to 50 before succumbing to the Woodham bowlers. David Glasson in probably his first long spell for Woodham bowled 8 really good overs and took 1 for 24. He tied up Mark Beames who was always looking to hit him but to no avail!! Craig Marshall the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets and Manoj bowled a tight 5 overs for just 5 runs. Arretons tail didnt manage to wag and they finished on 160 off their 40 overs.
George Verlander and Craig Marshall opened the Woodham batting and after George fell for 14 Craig went on to play one of the innings of the tour, and being very unlucky not to convert a 50 , falling on 47. Kev Wright hit a quick fire 36 and Stephen Richardson got close to the tour run record, falling for 19 with Woodham just short of victory. Mark Beames, in an extremely rare bowling appearance, managed to convince the umpire he had Peggy leg before, unfortunately everyone else thought he got a thick inside edge! Into the 38th over and Nelly smack a boundary to secure the victory.

Thanks must go to Arreton for arranging this Monday fixture as three games just wouldn't be enough.

Kev and I would like to thank everyone who toured this year. The behaviour both on and off the pitch was exemplary and everyone who represented Woodham did so with both honour and humility. It was a pleasure to organise the tour and there is no doubt we will be organising the Woodham Mortimer Cricket Tour 2014. Same Weekend, same 4 games but more than likely a different venue! I have already started the spreadsheet.......
