Match report On a gloriously warm and sunny day, a fruitful trip to the seaside (ok, Belfairs Park) was had as the 1's returned victorious from Eastwood. Skipper Wright won the toss and much to the derision of WMCC teammates and the delight of Eastwood, elected to field first. However, with Hayman and Wright getting considerable swing, (with the exception of Huckstepp, who went on to eventually make a fine 86) the decision appeared to be justified as the opening bowling pair reduced to the home side to 54-5. Just as the 6th wicket partnership threatened to get Eastwood back into the game, George Verlander removed Deeming, aided by a well taken catch from Rod Brazier. The tail wagged a little, but 155-7 became 155 all out, with Tom Payne & Keith Mitchell ending the innings with over 6 overs of the allotted 45 remaining.

Another solid opening stand from Matt Goodlad & Rod Brazier formed another excellent foundation for the run chase, delivering their third successive 50 plus partnership. Only when Matt had reached his own 50 did Eastwood get the breakthrough, with the score on 87. Andy Smith continued the momentum as the score soon went past the 100 mark. Both departed on 114, but despite the losses of Richardson and Verlander, Jason Biggs (15*) and Hayman (11*) saw WMCC home with nearly 12 overs to spare.

An excellent performance in all areas, and apart from the loss of late wickets as the winning line drew closer, a pretty flawless one. The victory lifts WMCC out of the relegation zone with a 14 point advantage over rivals Galleywood.
