Match report For three quarters of this latest indoor top flight encounter, WMCC went toe to toe with perennial champions Braintree Youth, keeping a tight rein on their experienced batting line up with some economical bowling and some excellent fielding. 64 from 8 overs became 97 from 10 and it was a case of the proverbial s*** or bust for the not so young 'Youth. Unfortunately for WMCC the kitchen sink was successfully thrown, the back wall found and the runs flowed, enough to set a challenging 144 to win.

Despite the early loss of skipper Wright, attempting to get up with the rate from the beginning, Ian Ball (18) & Chris Collis (29) regained momentum, and at the halfway stage WMCC were 56-1. However, the introduction of D. Hale tipped the game in the favour of Braintree, bowling his 3 overs for just 7 runs and effectively ending the contest, which concluded with WMCC finishing 58 runs short and thinking what might have been.

A decent effort against a side that are the Manchester United equivalent in this league. On another day, the late counter attack may not have been enough to rescue the innings.

Still, we are equipping ourselves well in a tough league and will be all the better for the experience.
