Match report Following the winning trend of recent weeks, WMCC won the toss and asked Boreham to bat.

Craig Marshall and Andy Smith opened the attack for the Woodies. Marshall quickly removed Watts for 0. Watts’s replacement Selvarajah started off at a tremendous pace, but with the score on thirty-six Smith had him caught behind for 27, this was via a good low down catch by Steff Hazell. Next up Smith removed Toplis via a smart catch by Gavin Cook, before a Boreham fight back started.

The Boreham run rate had been good from the start on a fast and rough outfield, enter George Verlander and Steve Collis to try and slow things down. This they did and George was first to strike. Wickets fell at regular intervals as Verlander (4 for 39), in particular, went through the Boreham batting.

Boreham all out 165 in 43 overs

This was a great effort by the fielding team as 200 looked on at one stage.

Woodham have proved to be a very capable chasing team in recent weeks and had every confidence they could chase down 166 to win.

Keith Lester and Andy Smith proceeded to give a master class in how this should be done, as they put on 99 for the first wicket. At this point it has to be pointed out what a sporting team Boreham are. Andy Smith was given out LBW only to be recalled to the crease by various Boreham players who said he had hit the ball. Why can’t all games be played like this?

Young Tom Bailey, in a fine spell, removed Lester for 36. Mason and Smith took the score to 139 before Smith was out for a brilliant 72. Mason was bowled by the pace of Selvarajah and Verlander by Bailey with the score on 142.

Enter Marshall and Cook to play some nice shots and take WMCC home to a good win. WMCC 168 for 4
