Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club TWENTY20 XI v Margaretting on Tue 29 May 2012 at 18:00
Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club Won by 8 wkts

Match report With the whole team there in good time for a prompt start Skipper Reddin walked out to middle with Oli Glason the Margaretting captain for the toss. With Oli calling correct Margaretting made the decision to bat first.

Roger was given the new cherry and promptly took a wicket. Sam Older (specialist gully) taking a good low catch. Brother John then took a wicket in the second over getting out Glason senior bowled without troubling the scorer with the ball pitching on leg stump and straightening. John was getting plenty of movement through the air and off the pitch beating the bat time and time again.

Wickets dried up for the next six overs with some excellent batting by S. Harle with some old wise back-up from Bellamy. He should have gone earlier but the skipper spilt a chance which he should have taken (sorry John).

Next into the attack was the Cheesy Wotsit. After a first over which he was stroked for a couple of boundaries he settled down to the good form he has shown this year beating the bat on a few occasions.

Michelle Richardson our mixed doubles tennis star (the one that wears the skirt) broke the partnership bowling Bellamy with one which did a bit off the pitch. He then proceeded to get Lee Austin out with “déjà vu” delivery. Lee in the end getting his bat tangled in his pad and not playing a shot.

Our newest recruit Sam Older popped in for a wicket as usual caught by CW.

Finally, Gareth bowled the last over and got a wicket with his first ball with his left arm over trundlers. Ball pitched inline straightened for a nice LBW.

S Harle was run out for the last ball for 49. His excellent technique countered some very good bowling. A very good knock in bowler freindly conditions.

Smith and Hoadley’s turn to open the WMCC innings. Gareth keen to play himself in smashed his first two balls faced for 6 and 4. The two got off to a quick start but both eventually fell, Caught and LBW respectively. This left Beames and Friend to finish off the show with some big hitting.

Result for an 8 wicket win in 13 overs in the dark.

Points to note: Michael Richardson was wearing some Little Baddow kit. This will reported to the Committee.

Roger nearly did not complete the scorebook again. Captian needs to decide whether he needs more practice.

Michael managed to add the match fees correctly for the first time. But this was made slightly easier as he forgot his money for the second game running.

Stephen Richardson is no longer “Specialist Gully”. Sam Older is now the Big G.

Man of the Match: John Marshall – Only one wicket but it should have been two. Some of the deliveries were unplayable. Excellent effort John.

Finally: Get your names down for next week’s home game. There are eleven already so I have no reason to chase players. If you do not update your availability you will not get in. I will pick team Thursday and it should be in posted and sent Friday as usual.

Excellent game lads played in good spirit….. except for Hoadley who was causing trouble ;-)
