Match report First warsop game against ardleigh green, I thought they played with the right banter and spirit of the warsop game.

I will start with the post-match session at the bar! Doom bar, Corona, Guinness and Coors lite beer were the preferred drinks for the evening. 9 strong men sitting with a beer in hand texting Mark Beames to annoy as much as possible about scorecard pictures, run outs, catches, who has not paid match fees etc. We had a visitor too Jack Shipton, thanks for coming !

The pre match report – Everything went wrong the start of the day! Skippering malarkey – get 11 men, toss ,who will do scoring, who will do umpiring, batting order, bowling order, fielding positions, teas , collecting subs, reading Marks texts , making sure we have the hard copy of scoreboard, balls, ensuring people are happy and more ! Oh boy that’s hard work. I think we managed to do all today somehow! 2 players pulling out early morning today, I have had to wait for my car to be fixed as tyre had to be replaced and then travel to Romford..

The match - I lost my first toss of the season. The match was reduced to 25 overs with 9 players. After we started not much went wrong except Gav cook getting run out. WMCC managed 157 in 25 overs on a proper wicket that had bounce and carry which you won’t see at WMCC. Our Dan Biffta Smith would have loved it. The tea was great. WMCC bowled them out for 107, so winning by 50 runs. The scorecard has been sent to our secretary to be posted on the website. It has been a good effort as the opposition play in shepherd neame league and seem to know what they were doing with bat and bowl but perhaps lacked the desire to win which WMCC has!

Well hope to get 11 next time!
