Match report The second fixture for the Friday side saw DG sitting this one out, with Nigel replacing. Yet again we lost the toss and were asked to bat first.
The skipper stayed with last week's openers based on their solid start - they took a little longer to get going this week facing some good bowling at the start.

Beamsy was the first to retire, and Nigel, perhaps a little indoor-rusty, was unfortunately bowled first ball. Mano was next in and was soon out, well caught one-handed at point. NG next in, Damo soon retired also and bringing in Nathan. Last week's final pair strove to up the rate, with Ebenezer hitting a rare six, and with both scoring more than last week, the side finished on 92 - short of the target 100.

The second innings started with an early wicket for Nathan, but the opposition batters started to move ahead. Good overs from Manoj limited their reply for a while but with wides helping their cause, they moved to needing only seven to win from the last over.

The skipper took the ball, the first two bowled provided five wides and they easily gained the target with five good balls remaining. Overall a slightly below par performance, which in the end cost us the result. Despite the loss, we scraped maximum batting points and a bowling point which could all help towards the end of this short season.

Thanks again to all the guys who made every effort but we came just short on this occasion - a game we could have won. One for reflection for the skipper in how to get the optimum bowling attack for the next match !
