Sampfords Reserves v Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club INDOOR BDICL 3RD SIX on Sun 13 Oct 2013 at 1:00pm
Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club Lost by 4 runs

Match report

Woodham fielded first and tidy, good length bowling from all our bowlers had Sampford struggling for runs. Wickets fell regularly until they were five down with only 43 on the board. Last man G. Smith batted well though, and hitting boundaries took their score to 88 at the close. A good bowling performance from Woodham with only 21 extras conceded. Pick of the Woodies bowlers was Manoj with 3 wickets for 19.

Chasing the gettable target, we were on the rate despite losing early wickets, and with Matt and Nick batting steadily kept the pace. With three overs to go, we needed only 12 to win with three wickets remaining - Matt due to return after retiring. We then lost two quick wickets and the pendulum had swung dramatically. 11 to win, one wicket left - until James was out with the score 84 - five short of a victory. Sampford's shorter bowling, helped by a rippling mat - resulted in all six Woodham wickets being bowled. On another day (and another mat ?) we probably would have cruised to a win.
