Match report With Woodham Mortimer thirds making it through to the next round of the reserve cup the pressure was on for woodham 2's to make sure they booked their place in the next round. The opening bowlers were a little rusty which lead to some changing around pretty quickly. Two good bowling spells by Gavin Cook and Steve Collis meant that things tightened up. We regularly took wickets which helped keep the rate down. Gavin Cook in particular bowled well and lead to the batsmen looking very confused a few times. It was nice to see the new ball swinging and turning. This bodes well for the rest of the season. That being said the 2's still had 135 to chase down which is more then we would have liked and made the game very tight.

Woodham did not get off to a great start with the bat with fannon being caught behind in the first over and Ollie Glasson following not long after that with a very powerfully pull shot which the keeper took off the wall having moved about a foot to catch it. Great shot out doors Ollie and would have been six but not indoors :). This brought the collis duo to the crease and sixes and fours were being smashed pretty quickly. Both colli retired and Gav cook and Craig Marshall gave the fielders a torrid time with lots of threes and believe it or not both of them hitting sixes. This means that the bottom three batsmen all retired on 27 runs! Chris Collis came back in at the end with 12 needed from 12 balls. So naturally two big shots later the game was over with an over to spare. One of these sixes being hit so hard back at the bowler that the bowler dived out of the way making the umpire and fielder behind him rather worriedly get out of the way to.

All in all a very good result but tighter bowling is needed for the next few games if we want to move up the league.
