Match report WMCC 1's returned to action and managed to go one better than last week and notch their second league victory of the season against Coggeshall Hamlet. In truth, the performance the previous week was probably a better one, but it was crucial to get over the line in this one.

Bowling first, an excellent performance contained Coggeshall throughout, with the spin twins of Rod Brazier & Keith Mitchell taking 5 wickets between them, well supported by Kev Wright and Jason Biggs, making his indoor bow for WMCC, and his first bowling spell in three years, once he'd chipped the rust off, was a solid one.

A good opening stand of 26 formed a solid base - enhanced further with the retirements (again) of Ian Ball & Brazier. But sensing that the crowd were not going to get an exciting finish, in typical WMCC fashion, the game was made much trickier with 3 run outs in a short space of time, which saw the departure of Biggs, Mitchell and Ball.

But with 9 required from the final over, the occasion got to bowler Egg, who cracked under the pressure, (I thank you!) who lost his radar, and brought that old friend Edward Extra into the game at a crucial stage, ensuring that WMCC got over the finishing line with 2 balls to spare.

A much closer game than it really should have been, but a victory nonetheless, and puts more distance between WMCC and the bottom two. The next game, against Bocking on Dec 1, presents another opportunity to increase that distance between us and the bottom of the table.
