Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club Won By 146 Runs

Match report After securing a hard-fought draw earlier on in the season against Billericay Vets Pheasant fortress welcomed the return fixture in an attempt to gain one up over an experienced side of seasoned cricketers. Captain Fanta-stic won the toss and stuck us into bat, and despite the early departure of M.Oliver and D.Glasson, runs began to flow. M.Tripathi and M.fawcett created a steady start untill the latter spooned one up to the bowler, finishing on a solid 36. And, after some confusion of the batting line-up, and the dodgy bowel movements of Mr. Reddin, C.Hayman took to the crease. Fours and sixes flew to every corner with the two racking up a big total, untill C.Hayman (on 99!) picked out a fielder in the deep, and trudged off in disbelief. Soon after M.Tripathi hit his 2nd centruy of the season, and the woodies posted an impressive 265 for the visitors to chase.
During the interval, and after intense inspection of the scorebook, it was revealed that C.Hayman did in fact hit his maiden century, finishing on a marvellous score on 101. (Well done Con!)
The vets innings began with a shocking run out from M.Oliver, and soon after wickets began to flow for H.Verlander (1-3-8 with 7 maidens to her name) first ball wonder N.Hayman (3-32-7) G.Verlander (2-3-6) M.Oliver (1-6-3) and welcome debut D.Allen who after an impressive first spell finished with (1-34-8).
Well done to everyone who played (especially to our centurions!) and to the trustworthy scorers (Charlotte & Hannah, who play cricket better than add up!) Roll on next week and the challenge of Tillingham.
