Chelmsford Prison Service v Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club TWENTY20 XI on Tue 22 May 2012 at 18:00
Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club Won by 96 runs

Match report The Midweek season finally got off to a start on a glorious sunny evening without a cloud in the sky. Captain Reddin won the toss and then proceeded to tweak his hamstring picking up the coin. As usual electing to bat first the innings started with Reddin and Fannon opening. Runs ticked along nicely until Fannon called Reddin through for a quick single. Reddin and his one leg were not quick enough. Next in was Kevin Wright to hit 50 and retire in quick time with some sweet hitting on a slow track. Beames followed and obviously excited about playing some cricket with his Tuesday evening pass out from Mrs. B in his back pocket tried his best to run himself out for a duck. If the throw would have hit he was out by 5 yards. Damo, keen on getting value for money and have a good net reached his 50 in 19.3 overs. Innings ended on 160 for 1.

Roger took over keeping duties with Reddin moving across to 1st slip for a rest with his one leg. An excellent opening spell from Craig and Connor with one wicket each, Craig getting a snick to first slip which Reddin collected in the bread basket and Connor bowling one. With Prison Service only getting 7 for 2 off the opening spell the screw was being turned on the opposition who found it difficult to score runs with a very attacking field set by the captain. Connor was at one point bowling to 3 slips, gully and point. Michelle Richardson was first change, the only player to wear a jumper on warm day. His Mum said he had to wear it! Spujuju bowled and excellent spell taking two wickets. New boy, Sam Older who managed to bowl for both teams and bat for them as well got 2-12 in a shorten spell. With light fading the pace was dropped with Peggy and Damo the spin twins (spin is questionable). Both were in the wickets.

End result was a 96 run victory with everyone contributing. The only down point was Michael’s moaning about collecting the money and lack of ability to multiply by four. He shall have to try better next time.

Thanks to Nathan for playing for the opposition who were short on numbers.

Man of the Match : Connor for his 4-0-5-1. He beat the bat endless times. It could have been 5 wicket!
