Nigel Richardson was Made a Life Member of Woodham Mortimer Cricket club at the Pheasantation Evening on Saturday 29th September 2018 for his services to the club both as a player and an administrator.
Nigel has sent the following email to the club as a Thank You for this award.
Hi Ian,
I was overwhelmed and very humbled by the presentation made by you to me on behalf of the club on Saturday evening. Thank you for your kind words, the life membership and the commemorative bat which provides a wonderful reminder of many good and happy times at WMCC. Thank you also for the Tesco’s finest Pate which I will enjoy with a bit of toast in the coming days provided Michael doesn’t get to it first!!
WMCC has played a huge part in the Richardson families’ life over the last 15 years. As a Father it has been a joy to see both the boys, Stephen and Michael grow to enjoy the great game of cricket and WMCC has been foundational to this. I personally have had some great times in the middle, at first slip, in the changing room and in the bar!! As you mentioned on Saturday, and echoed by myself, WMCC is more than just a cricket club, it is a family and all the Richardson’s have enjoyed being part of the WMCC family over the last 15 years. We have many fond memories; have had great fun and built long and lasting friendships.
As you know, it is likely that Frances and I will be moving at some stage next year but only God knows when and where. However, Helen and Michael will remain local and so we will be back from time to time and will take any opportunity to pop down and check the scoreboard.
In terms of the Treasurers role, I will complete and present the accounts at the AGM and hopefully we will have a successor who I can help ease in and hand over to before the start of next season.
