Match report The Sun Has Got His Hutton! Well that was supposed to be the headline after celebrating our first victory. But after last week facing Joe Grant, ex Essex and Jamaica fast bowler, this week it was Mel Hussain, ex Worcs & Hampshire and brother of some famous bloke. So, after another defeat, the WMCC faithful were left with the consolation that Grant may be able to knock over Lara and Hussain is now off to some international tournament, but neither could get Richard Kneller out!
And so to the game, invited to bat, WMCC knew that the 2 previous opponents to Hutton had failed to score 50! WMCC achieved this without losing a wicket!! The total reached 82-2, a fine achievement but it was never going to be enough, though Otis and a one legged skipper did return back to the hatch with their wickets in tact.
Hutton raced to victory within 8 overs, with just a run out to cheer.
Beaten by much the better team, the WMCCs, averaging about 85 years old compared to Hutton's 40.25 years, tried their best and still left smiling. Best news of the night was to see the Doc return to action and come through unscathed. Another outdoor season surely awaits him....
