Match report Sadly it was not to be opening day glory as the over 40s thursday team locked horns with Hornchurch.

Invited to bat, it was all about one man, David Goodchild. Having not played in over 2 years and with wickets falling all around him, to finish with 50no out of a total of 90 was a magnificent achievement.

Any hopes of victory were soon shattered though as all 5 woody bowlers were battered around the chelmsford rectangle; hornchurch reaching their target in the 8th over without loss.

So not the result we had hoped for but a thoroughly enjoyable evening for a bunch of old woodies who would probably have all been asleep in the armchair at home if they had not been playing.
