Update - The Jim Melhuish Foundation Event 2021

28 Aug 2021

Good morning all,

Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club is delighted to announce that on Sunday 22nd August a grand total of £1,510.00 was raised for The Jim Melhuish Foundation. The club would like to extend their gratitude to the following who made this event possible.

To Ollie Glasson and Matt Clark, who in recent weeks have undertook ground staff duties to ensure that Pheasant Park remains one of the most resplendent places to play Cricket.

To Nick Goode, who ensured that the clubhouse was organised with a fully-stocked bar and operational BBQ in order for us to host the festivities. Your diligent efforts are greatly appreciated.

To James Mickley and the match day sponsor of The White Hart Brewery for providing the craft ale. It was of little surprise that this feature was a major success.

To Tracey Jacob, who took photographs throughout the day and captured various wonderful moments of memories that will last a lifetime.

To the Melhuish family, who provided food and raffle prizes, much to the delight of Freddie Beames who appeared to have purchased every available ticket. It was lovely to have you back with us after so long apart and we hope that you know how welcome you all are here.

Finally, to all that either came to support the event or have donated online towards this fantastic cause. The generosity that has been displayed is beyond words and we cannot tell you what this means for us as a club and for the Melhuish family. Thank you so very much.

Jim Melhuish was an avid supporter of WMCC. To those that had the pleasure of knowing him were deeply aware of how he was a kind, charismatic individual with a unique enthusiasm for life and helping others. Grace Melhuish, who is very much her father’s daughter, retains those same qualities and we are extremely proud to have her as a member, not just for the player that she is on the pitch, but for the person that she is off of it also. We promise to honour her father’s legacy and look forward to continuing our support towards The Jim Melhuish Foundation in the 2022 season.

Sincerely,

George Verlander
