News Flash: Jeeves reaches 3000 run milestone!

After last nights 20/20 our very own George Verlander reached the heady heights of 3000 Woodham Runs!

A fantastic achievement. I don't wish to marginalize his top batting skills however it got me thinking, what other milestones

have happened this year in this curtailed season, and low and behold there have been another 4 worth mentioning:

Manu Tripathi scored his 6000th Woodham run v Boreham last Tuesday night. Not the most salubrious venue but a fantastic

achievement non the less.

Gav Cook took his 300th wicket last weekend and hopefully this weekend he will score his 4000th run. I have probably put the

mockas on it as he sits on 3980 so we will be ready with the champagne on either Saturday or Sunday

Jack Preston has also fought his way to 3000 runs this year and Ollie Glasson need just 4 more wickets to reach 300.

And of course James Mickley getting ever closer to that 100th wicket just 78 to go....

Some of you may not be aware that we received every fixtures card from 1921 to 2020, many of them with results listed.

These were a gift from Mrs De'ath, the widow of Geoff De'ath. Geoff was fixtures secretary for 56 years.. (I can beat that..)

We are in the process of loading them all onto the website. We are up to 4300 matches with about another 600-700 to go.

The first match we have records of is Saturday 14th May 1921 away to Little Baddow This was the first game following the end

of the first world War, and next year will be the 100th Anniversary of that game

Tomorrow myself and Ollie Glasson are visiting the Essex Archives to view the stored boxes of Woodham memorabilia including

4 boxes of old scorebooks.... We are both very excited.......
