Below is an interim Financial Statement provided by our Treasurer, Nick Goode. With all this in mind we intend to
reduce match fees temporarily for this season only, back to £7.00 per person, senior , junior or ladies. As we have
had such a good response in terms of payments for annual subs and with the cancellation of teas we felt it was right
to pass on the reduction in costs to the members. This will apply to all games for the 2020 season.
Interim financial update
The club’s finances have taken a major hit due to ongoing and also unexpected costs coupled with loss of income.
We survived through the winter with fees for matches and nets covering associated costs. However our roller broke down
and this meant an essential and very costly repair. We also needed a number of trees around the boundary trimmed back.
We have saved on insurance and waste collection costs, but overall our costs have exceeded income which means we would
now have had a debt. Thanks to members paying subscriptions this has meant we have - just - survived to date.
Further, on the basis of no outdoor cricket this summer, with more costs but no income, we would now have a significantly
increasing deficit and struggle to pay bills.
However, the great news is that we have secured a sizeable grant to help businesses survive through the current crisis.
This is a massive boost and changes our finances to now being very healthy.
We will now start drawing down from this grant, which we predict will provide a healthy year-end balance a little in excess
of our forecast had we had a full summer season. It does mean we may be able to fund some general club improvements,
but not to the extent some may have hoped.
Should we manage to play some games, then the situation would further improve.
On a general note, we have also undertaken essential maintenance of the clubhouse, equipment and grounds, with
further works and improvements to be planned as and when funds can be committed.
We have completed the following works:
- Tree pruning of all the overhanging branches on the boundaries
- Repaired our ball machine to full working order including new balls and 2 sets of stumps for the nets
- Repaired and maintained the roller; an expensive job but essential
- Repaired and replaced the fuse box and some faulty wiring, causing the power to trip out
- We have got a new insurer, better value cover at less cost
