A note from the Chairman on a historic Woodham Day!

A note from the Chairman on a historic Woodham Day!

A day to remember for WMCC, a day I'm sure many will talk about for years to come.

Firstly, a 3rd Round National Village Cup tie away at Two Counties Div 1 side, Woolpit. Woolpit is an impressive,
progressive club with a fine set up and we thank them for their hospitality today.

WMCC were certainly the underdogs but from the first ball, the commitment, desire, spirit and togetherness was
there for all to see.  Dan's innings was simply incredible and with the never say die belief throughout the team,
WMCC recorded an historic victory, arguably our biggest ever.

As the only Essex side now remaining in the competition, we proceed to the Essex/Suffolk Regional Final, with
an away trip to Worlington on 9th June. Another very tough ask, but you never know!

And whilst our Lords dream remained alive, over at High Roding, the celebrations continued as our youngest
member, Angus Beames, scored his first century (at 11 years and 246 days old..)...108 not out off 76 balls,
16 fours and 1 six.

Angus carried his bat in Maldon's under 12 Brian Taylor cup victory over High Roding.  Well done Angus!

WMCC is a magical place, a place where memories are made. Today is one of those days - not only are the
current crop a fabulous credit to themselves and to this great club but with players like Angus coming through,
the future is also bright.

Proud to be WMCC.

Best,

Ian Ball
Chairman WMCC
