Sunday night saw the final Riverside indoor game with Woodham going down by just a single Run. Not our best season however as the league splits from 2 divisions to 4 after Christmas our early successes meant our final 4 games were again the top teams. In 2 of those games we were very unlucky losers; by 1 run last night and by failing to chase down 54 the week before.
This year we have played 13 won 4 and lost 9. It has to be said that the tiny Ingatestone venue was difficult for us and I am sure we are all looking forward to returning to the batter friendly Riverside in 2019/2020!
Dan Smith has taken over the captain’s armband for the season and did us proud with a total of 282 runs, a high of 60 and an average of 70.50 from his 8 games. Only 3 fours scored but a massive 21 sixes to go with his 7 catches. Toby Pateman came in second place with a paltry 107 at 11.89. We all need to up our batting as Dan sets the bar very high.
In the bowling department Dan also took the honours with 10 wickets with Ollie Glasson (9) and Toby Pateman (8) close behind.
Dan has also finished as the top run scorer in the entire league with his 282 runs and equal 4th in the bowling table.
We used 16 players this year and I want to thank everyone for being available, particularly to those who make the effort to play twice on a Sunday and sometimes even three games! Without these members making themselves available, it would mean we would have to drop teams next year and many would miss out on playing indoor, so a big thank you for your support.
So that ends the Ingatestone/Shenfield experiment and we will be back in the new leisure centre for the 2019/2020 indoor season
Regards
Mark
