Good afternoon all.
WMCC is open to all and wishes to enable all its members to enjoy their cricket in an enjoyable environment, whatever their standard across a variety of formats.
In fairness to all, I would like to promote a couple of points, subs and selection, which are designed for transparency and equality across our members. If we are all content with this approach, we may then move on to the important business, enjoying a long hot summer of cricket!
As we are reaching the subs renewal deadline this coming Monday, hopefully, those wishing to be considered for selection thereafter will have greased the club's palms over this weekend with the necessary reddies or as a minimum had a conversation with Mark or Nigel to discuss if an issue. Please do so as we do not want to shoot ourselves in the foot at the first selection hurdle!
I wish to highlight the club's selection policy this summer (assuming you've all paid!!)
Saturday - the respective Captains will select their preferred competitive teams for the league matches. Similarly for the Village Cup, we will aim to select competitive teams en route to the final ;)
Sunday Friendlies and 20/20 selection:
1. All selections for Sunday and 20/20 to be firstly made by selecting those who have made themselves available via the website. If eleven are available on the website for a Sunday or a 20/20 fixture then that eleven will be picked first without referral to any other players.
2. If there are less than eleven available on website. Then the captains should select those available and then work on filling the remaining slots either via email or text.
3. If there are more than 11 available on the website for a Sunday game then priority will be given to those who have not played league cricket that weekend.
4. For 20/20 games the captain will look at both league and Sunday teams before selecting those who had played the least cricket in the preceding weekend
5. In the case of tie breaks the captains should look at the previous week to ascertain who has played the least amount of cricket to break any deadlocks
6. Sunday and 20/20 friendly cricket is wholly designed to enable those who are members of Woodham and are not selected to play league cricket.
7. The only exception to these rules will occur if we are able to field 2 teams on the 4 home Sunday Warsop league games. The Sunday captain may pick a competitive Warsop side only if another friendly away fixture has been organised. We will attempt to gauge the interest for these 4 weekends at least 2 weeks in advance.
So sorry to nag, the email is sent with good intentions of a clear, fair approach but the 2 messages are:
1. Please pay your subs now
2. Please update the website with your availability.
And then 3 (cause there's always a third on my arm!) -
Let's play some cricket!
Best,
Ian Ball
Chairman, WMCC
PS. If for any reason you cannot update the website with your availability, please contact Mark Beames and he can do it for you.
PPS. Happy to discuss the above if necessary
