When you think of great people small in stature the likes of Bilbo Baggins, that Roman Centurion & Cowboy from ‘Night at the Museum’ and Dobby the house elf come to mind. But no matter how great these heroes are, they are nothing in comparison to WM’s very own miniature legend, the legend that is Rib. Some say he was found by his father Manu inside a kinder egg. Others say that he is the world champion hot wheels race-car driver. There was even talk that Ribu had come along with a happy meal his sister had once ordered, her surprise quite something when opening the box to collect the toy when there sat little Rib munching away quietly on one of the chips.
But wherever the mini-maestro came we’re not going to complain. This year alone the silent-but-violent with the ball, junior Mr Tash, has taken over 40 wickets! JP hasn’t even taken 40 wickets in his entire life. So accurate our Rib is that you could throw a 5p down the track and Rib-Eye would land the ball on it 6 times out of 6. Granted Rib is so small he could probably land both feet on the 5p himself but that’s not the point here. The point is at 14 (age not height in cm’s) this is perhaps one of Woodham’s greatest ever cricket prodigy’s. The little fella can also bat. In fact he just doesn’t get out. Bit like trying to get my sister out of bed in the morning – the moody cow – he just doesn’t budge! India had Dravid ‘the wall.’ Woodham have Ribu ‘the small.’ What a time to be alive.
Lets hope we can keep hold of this young talent.
