OSSCC v Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club SECOND XI on Sat 18 Jun 2016 at 1.00pm
Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club Won 8 Wkts

Match report With the Woodham Pups on the road again with thoughts still on the previous weeks disappointment of not winning the game due to the rain the Woodham skipper once again won the toss and one again elected to bowl first. This decision was once again backed up by the early wicket of R. Scott, Glasson taking an easy catch off the bowling of Preston. Woodham were on top with runs hard to come by, unfortunately so were wickets. This was until change bowlers S. Collis and the returning G. Cook entered the bowling, this pair took wickets at regular intervals while keeping the runs to a minimum. The pressure told on opposing captain Garwood, who looking solid hit one just to the left of Preston at mid off and set off for a single, he was sent back but Preston with a good pick up and throw beat him with N. Cook glad fully receiving the ball and running the skipper out, our first run out of the season. At this stage there wasn't much for the batsmen to do, so when No. 8 Madren walked out his plan was simple, see ball, hit ball. This paid off, until the Preston coming back on for his 2nd spell bowled a good Yorker to clean him up for an innings high 27. This brought some respect to the score as the hosts were bowled out for 88. 3 wickets a piece for Preston, Collis and G. Cook

After tea the opening pair of Brown and Glasson set about the chase, the watchful Brown ably supporting the attacking Glasson, Glasson playing a mix of straight drives and Pulls off the opening bowler Hudson. With Brown happy to play himself in and rotate the strike Glasson moved through the gears. The hosts mixed up the bowling using 7 bowlers but it wasn't until Madren the star with the bat for OSSCC came into the attack, Brown trying to repeat his straight drive for four from the previous ball this time being he deep by skipper Garwood for 23. Glasson joined by Cook swiftly moved to his 50, then he decided to win it with a 6, not realising 8 was actually needed he missed a ball from R. Scott and was stumped, with one chef departing another came in with N. Cook joining his name sake, these two seeing out the remaining runs finishing on 13 and 4 respectively.

Another good win by the Woodham Pups with the game once again finishing early. Next up East hanningfield and great burstead, (from now on to be known as EH&GB),
