Match report After a couple of close encounters, and a minor abberation at the hands of Terling, the first VI got back to winning ways with an excellent victory over Sampfords.

Inserting the opposition, patience was required as openers Banks & Poulson both batted steadily to acheived retirements, though WMCC were able to control the scoring rate. A wicket was finally earnt as Webster was well caught by Mitchell off the bowling of Wright. Mitchell was again in the action soon after, bowling B. Poulson for 4. A sharp one handed catch at the second attempt from Wright earnt Ashley Wade a first wicket, reward for a good bowling spell. Any worries that the returning openers would continue where they left off were soon allayed, as Mitchell trapped Banks in front first ball, and smart work from Beames & Ball saw the departure of other openers Poulson. A flurry of runs got Sampfords up to 88, a more than getable target.

Over 40's opening duo Ball & Beames were paired together again, and provided a solid platform for the run chase, both retiring on 26 and 25 respectively. Despite Wright (5) and Shaw (6) returning back to the hutch going for back wall glory, it was left to Wade (13*) and Mitchell (8*) to seal a 4 wkt victory with 7 balls to spare.
