Woodham Mortimer Cricket Club Lost by 23 runs

Match report After losing the toss and Purleigh deciding to have a bat, I felt we did well to restrict them to 120 for 4 off 20 overs. Cameron Hayman took 2 for 11 off his 2 overs and had a hattrick ball.
The plan for Beames and Richardson to both quickly retire on 25 each failed to materialise after Stephen fell for 5 and Beames playing a horrible swish at a straight one fell for 8 (2 straight 4's off sucessive balls). Friend, Mitchell and Older showed us how to push the ball around and scoring at 5-6 an over but all fell short of decent scores. It was left to Andy Smith and Connor Hayman to try to lift the rate to the required 9-10 and over. Purleigh brought on the slow bowlers on a damp wicket making it increasingly hard to get them away and Woodham fell short of the total by 23 runs.
A very dissapointing result for the stand in skipper as I felt we easily had the batting lineup to score 121 runs.
Onto the double header next week with the skipper Reddin hopefully returning from the 'massage' table.
